The Bible teaches us to respect, take care of, and honor God’s money. Doing so creates financial freedom that allows us to be generous to those in need. At The Creek, we strive to be good stewards of what God has given us and want to live out the biblical mandate of care for our neighbors (I Timothy 6:18). Out of this commitment, the Generous Ministry has been formed to care for those in our community who are experiencing trouble securing the necessities of life – things such as food, shelter, and utilities.
General Information
- The Generous Ministry does not provide emergency assistance.
- The Generous application process can take 3-4 weeks once we have received a completed application, including all supporting documents. If you are in immediate need, we suggest you contact 211 or findhelp.org to explore other resources in your area.
- We are only able to consider requests from Creek Members or those who reside in the following zip codes:
- 46107, 46126, 46130, 46142, 46143, 46163, 46203 (excluding center township), 46227, 46237, 46239, and 46259.
- If you are not within these parameters, your request will be closed.
- We are unable to approve all requests, and those that are approved may not be approved for the full amount requested.
Completing Application
- Complete the entire application. Any information missing will result in delaying your application moving forward.
- Be sure to include any supporting documents with your online application. This could include: utility bills, lease, letters of eviction, etc… We will also need a copy of the driver’s license or state ID of every adult (18 and over) living in the household. You can attach documents to this application, or email them to generous@thecreek.org.
- Upon submission of the application, you will receive a link and login information. This will allow you access to view the status of your request. If we are still in need of documents, you will receive an email directing you to login to see that information.
Application Process
- Once we have received all the supporting documents for your request, a member of our Generous Engagement Team will receive your request and will reach out to you by phone.
- As part of processing your application, we do review background checks listed in public records at mycase.in.gov. Please note, this is something we take into consideration, but it is not the deciding factor on your request.
- Please be advised – when our team member contacts you, it may be from a blocked number.
- The phone interview is a requirement for your application to be considered. Please be sure to answer your phone while your application is in process.
- Once the phone interview takes place, the Generous Team will discuss your need and make a final decision on your request.
Our Ministry Purpose
- We desire to get to know you, your needs, and participate with you on discussing ways we as a church can support you moving forward. This may include financial support but is not limited to that.
- As part of the application process, you will be required to participate in evaluating your need, as well as planning and creating steps you are able to take to alleviate that need moving forward.
- If you receive assistance, you will be asked to complete two next steps. Failure to complete these steps will prohibit you from receiving any future assistance.
If you have any further questions, email us at generous@thecreek.org or call the office at 317-862-6430.
